"My husband and I came to Boston in 1998 from Japan with then four-year-old and two-month-old daughters. We did not know anyone or where to seek for help, however, we needed to get to work right away. We found Rachel's ad on a bulletin board at a local Japanese grocery store. Our older daughter spoke no English, and I was nursing my baby and not yet weaned, but we had no other choice. We left the girls in Rachel's hand.
We had no knowledge of American day care, so we did not know what to expect. However, coming across with Rachel was such a godsend to us! She is so accommodating to our needs, very casual and easy-to-talk-to personality, but most of all, she really took a good care of our girls! They both like Rachel so much, and they still talk about her!
I personally learned so much from Rachel; her positive attitude and resilience taught me to never give up on things. I am so grateful that Rachel came to us.
Now my girls are thirteen and eight. It may be just a small part of their early life, but it was also one of the toughest times of our family, and Rachel came to us for rescue. Now she has become such an important part of our life. I sincerely wish that many other families will have wonderful connection with Rachel just like us." |
